Majesty Handpan D Amara 13 (9+4) Stainless Steel

Handmade handpan with 9 top and 4 bottom notes

Order-No.: SE 310

The handpan is an absolutely beginner-friendly instrument where percussion and melody meet. Playing the handpan creates soothing, spherical and long-lasting soundscapes that completely captivate both the player and the listener. Neither previous experience nor knowledge of music theory is necessary, because all the tone fields on the handpan are on a fixed scale. With most models, it is not possible to strike dissonant notes, i.e. notes that sound "wrong". Therefore, you can follow your own intuition while playing and lose yourself in mysterious, dreamy melodies after only a short time. With a little practice, of course, more complicated rhythms, captivating chords and two-part melodies are also possible. A handpan is just as suitable as a solo instrument as it is for playing together with other handpans or other instruments such as tongue drums, guitar or percussion.

Sela Majesty Stainless Steel Handpans are made of the highest quality stainless steel and are handcrafted and tuned by some of the best handpan makers in the world. They sound even better than our popular Harmony Stainless Steel models. Stainless steel handpans have a much longer sustain than nitrided handpans and are therefore particularly suitable for slow, relaxing and meditative playing. At the same time they are very easy to clean. Sela Majesty Stainless Steel handpans have a shiny, bronze-coloured finish, which provides a very noble, high-quality and at the same time mysterious look. Each model in the Majesty series also comes with a handpan rope. The decorative band protects the edge of the handpan and also gives it an individual look.

The D Amara tuning (fundamental frequency 440 Hz) is one of the most popular handpan scales of all. The central note in the middle of the handpan is D3, around which the notes A3, C4, D4, E4, F4, G4, A4 and C5 are arranged in a circle. This model also has four additional bottom notes on the underside of the handpan. These are the notes D5, E5, F5 and G5. Thanks to its bright-sounding D minor scale, the D Amara can be used to play a wide variety of melodies, ranging from calm and meditative to melancholy, powerful and cheerful. With a total of 13 tone fields, there are considerably more playing possibilities than with a conventional D Amara handpan without bottom notes, although this also increases the degree of difficulty. Nevertheless, the Majesty Handpan D Amara 13 Stainless Steel is not only recommended for advanced players, as beginners can ignore the additional tone fields at first and then gradually incorporate them into their melodies later.

Each Sela Handpan comes with a bag made of tear-resistant nylon fabric, which, thanks to its good lining, provides optimal protection during transport. It can be carried either by hand with the two handles or comfortably as a backpack with the adjustable shoulder straps. A practical outer compartment offers enough space for small accessories such as a metronome.
